cappy625 Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 hello everyone. just rejoined. and blew the dust off some unfinished models. one is a transtar co4070a. i am building a 1970.and didnt relize how much different the kit was from the year iam building.i figured outjust about every thing.like.freshair vents up front.the different turnsignal position.the bodylines on the bottom of the cab below the side compartments.and the driverside stepladder.my question is the grill.i know the 1970,model had less bars then the one the kit coms with. but i can not find the real truck to take messurements. theirs not many of these around anymore.i have plenty of pictures but what i need to know is if the bars on the older model are thicker because they do look thicker in the picture. and how far apart where the bars. any help will be greatly appreciated.

One was at the old mill house the other was about 15 miles from here I do not think I can get too it. The State close that road about 4 months ago to rebuild the bridge,I don't remember if it was on this side or the other. Maybe I can the with of each bar then get the center off that.

Guest Johnny Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 (edited) A quick look found this 4070A (1970) Here is a 71 Edited September 6, 2010 by Johnny
cowboysevens Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 well there it is, both nice trucks too! dennis
Guest Johnny Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 I was an owner operator with a 70 like pictured back in 76-77! 318 Detroit with a 13 speed. Great flatland truck that could outrun about anything on the road, until you hit a hill! The mountains wre a long hard pull, on the low side. The last truck I drove was similar to the 71 (grill and the same basic body style) but was a 79 Transtar II! The cab set higher thus the extension below the cab and an integeral step under the door instead of the stirrup! It had a 400 Big Cam Cummiins and a 13 speed! It was a light pea green color with dark green graphics!
