evilone Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 Well this was sold to me by a friend for $60. It was built and nice looking but i didn't like the testor rootbeer brown on it so i asked if i could change it and his response was its yours do what you want to it. So i stripped it down, cut the trunk open, repainted it celery green (by krylon) and shot a coat of green pearl over it, i also gave him his rims back and swapped them with some 1109's. Heres the pics paint day today after waxing and foil I still need to work on a filler to cover the trunk floor and a sub box for the trunk.More to come so stay tuned.
Modlbldr Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 Kevin- That is a great looking color with the pearl green over it. I saw that Celery green in Wally World the other day. I should pick some up. I love the 1109's on it too. Later-
charlie8575 Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 I was trying to figure out what that color was. Very nice work. I am curious, though. Is that pearl green lacquer? Aren't you a little concerned with it crazing the Krylon enamel? Sometimes, I wish I built more customs, playing with colors like that can be fun. Charlie Larkin
Railfreak78 Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 Thats a cool looking Caddy. I've always wanted one of those myself even the 1:1 Can you guys explain "crazing" ?

Crazing occurs when there's a bad chemical reaction between paints or paint and plastic. The results can be anything from a cracked finish to plastic being etched to plastic or paint actually dissolving. Charlie Larkin

Charlie Larkin Actually bro all the paints are krylon except the last clear coat(its folkart high gloss) I mixed the pearl in with the krylon gloss clear and shot a few cover coats. Then i sprayed a few mist coats of the folkart before i layed the wet coat to seal it all. So far this type of technique has worked on over 30 builds and has not failed yet.
