ismaelg Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 HA! Low fin SR-2 The first incarnation of the car. It was painted purple afterwards (first pic) and un-officially called purple people eater, but that name is associated with another car. Actually the first picture is at Sebring '58, while Jim Jeffords owned it. That picture was taken by Jack Evans Knab. Leaning on the car is Augie Pabst. The guy looking backwards next to the driver's door is Jeffords. Serial number for the car in the last pics is:E56S002522. That's the Jerry Earl's car, son of Harley Earl.
Guest zebm1 Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 Twas tha fin that gave it away, right? I found sum more vette mystery cars.....
ismaelg Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 Not only the fin but the grille is located 10 inches away from the stock location while the fenders were extended 5 inches. The hood is longer as well and the ducts in the doors are functional, getting fresh air to the rear brakes
7000in5th Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Excellent pix, Zeb, thanks for posting them! If you are interested in more info on the "Purple People Eater" SR-2 and later Corvettes, I have a web page HERE.
