Guest zebm1 Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 For Art: 1959 Kurtis at Palm Springs Race Track. and for Andy: 1962 Riverside - Ken Miles in a Ferrari 625 TRC V-12 and Bill Krause in a Tipo 161 1963 Riverside - Ken M. traded UP for a Maserati 1962 Riverside - Briggs Cunningham's Maserati Tipo 151 and a real rarity, a Maserati Tipo 64- V-12 at Riverside Raceway - 1962 That's all Folks!, for today anyway....
Modelmartin Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 Thanks for the pics! If Ken Miles traded into a Tipo 61 in 1963 he was getting a badly dated racecar! The Birdcage was only really competitive in 60 and 61. Back of the grid guys used them for many more years and more than a few were fitted with small block Ford motors. Alan Connell of Texas put a Testa Rossa V-12 in his!!!
Guest zebm1 Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 I misdated that pic of K. Miles, shulda been 1962...and I waz teasing.
Biscuitbuilder Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 ..was built in the time frame 1953-54, based on the very first Kurtis 500A Indy roadster (made famous by Bill Vukovich Sr, the Fuel Injection Special). Basically, they were 500A chassis, widened out into 2 seaters. Biscuitbuilder
