crazyjim Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 One more old timer from the mid 70s to mid 80s. This was my first shot at a diorama - it's supposed to look like the car is set up at a car show. Handpainted cob webbing. I sprayed black and then some translucent blue and then clear. The wiring is sewing thread. Caps on the headers are actually air filters from some kit.
DRG Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Always did like a man that knows what sewing thread is for. love the cob webbing.
Jeff Sauber Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 That's a cool chevy, Jim... I remember back when I used thread for plug wires and other under hood details...I still do sometimes for things like seat piping, and interior accent trim and such.
bigmikevee Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Hey Jim, Wow, the memories you must get from this one, looks great, right before I stopped building I did about 4 different models with thread, wish I still had them, your first attempt at diorama back in the day was, to me, a great success!! Webbing is just too cool, and love the placard with your name and the information on your car, aren't you glad you still have this? Man, I love it!! Thanks for posting Jim, keep looking in the closet and post some more. Mike
crazyjim Posted August 7, 2010 Author Posted August 7, 2010 Thanks guys. The chrome tape came from Auto World. They used to sell several colors, including chrome is a variety of widths. I don't think BMF existed yet.
Kodiak Island Modeler Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 I like the 210 impression that you've given it, and the stance. You've captured the era quite well.
