Len Woodruff Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 I am looking for the color for this C5R corvette.
Len Geisler Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Len, If memory serves me correctly it is called 19U Luxo Blue. I even have some of it in a spray can I special ordered from a dealer.
Len Geisler Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 (edited) It's Le mans Blue GM code 19. I think that and Luxo (PPG's Name for LeMans Blue, IIRC) are the same....Hence the 19U Edited August 23, 2010 by Len Geisler
Len Woodruff Posted August 23, 2010 Author Posted August 23, 2010 (edited) Thanks guys. I thought it was LeMans blue and fortunatly I recently bought some from Jameston @ ScaleFinishes. Now if someone would just make some decals. Edited August 23, 2010 by Len Woodruff
Scalefinishes Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Len, You're right. Luxo is the same color, GM loves to rename paints when they spray them on the Corvette, it's all in the OEM code. I don't know why I didn't catch that in your post. Jameston
ScaleCentral Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Now, who makes decals in 1/24th scale? I have this kit in 1/43rd, but I would like the 1/24th. Nic

7000in5th Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 (edited) Great looking car, I wish Chevrolet had stuck with red, white and blue for all the races. I have a web page for each C5-R and the page for C5R-008 includes some shots at Nashville for the Corvette 50th anniversary celebration. Corvette Racing brought 008 home from Le Mans without cleaning it up. If anyone would like to do an authentic weathering job on that C5-R, the pix are HERE. Len Woodruff Posted August 28, 2010 Author Posted August 28, 2010 (edited) Great pictures David! Thanks so much for posting those. Now to get someone to make the decals. If some could make the white decals the rest could be done w/ paint. Edited August 28, 2010 by Len Woodruff
Scalefinishes Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 My quick suggestion for decals is Jerry Reeter, who goes by Phoneguy here on the forum, and runs modeltruckin.com. He does a lot of decals for semi trucks, but he would be my first pick for any custom decals. I have a few sets of his truck decals, and they are amazing. Just my 2cents, Jameston

Do you know if he does ALPS decals? My experience with ink jst decals has not been good. Edited August 29, 2010 by Len Woodruff
Scalefinishes Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 Len, Yes, in the FAQ section of his website, Jerry mentions that he uses an Alps MD5500 printer.

tuffone20 Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 (edited) I used to order decals from this place for my H.O. slot cars and never had a problem with getting them and I think they have the decals you are looking for. http://members.optusnet.com.au/pattosplace/home.html Hope this helps. I thought that link would take you right to that decal sheet, but it takes you to the main page. So just click on the "C" and go down the list until you get to the Corvette's and I think this is the one you want? Edited August 30, 2010 by tuffone20
