Can I use Tremclad gray primer (aerosol) as a primer for my model cars? Has anyone tried this product? (3rd from the left)

What about Krylon all-purpose primer?

Also, does anyone primer there parts first? or just the bodies? I ask because I noticed that sometimes I need to put 2 coats of paint on the parts to get proper coverage.

I can't comment on the brand of primer you show.Maybe some Canadian folks know better. Some people swear by Krylon primer, but I don't use it.

My goto primers are Plastikote sandable gray,Tamiya gray and white, and DuPont Vari-Prime.

I also prime everything!! except maybe stuff that I will shoot with Alclad chrome if there hasn't been any putty work and the bare plastic is smooth.

I won't use Krylon any longer. It seems to be too chemically hot for plastic. My fav primer is PlastiKote. Tamiya is very good, only reason I won't use it is cost per volume, I buy primer in full size cans.

I'd be careful with the Tremclad primer, and test it on a sprue tree first.

I have used the grey and white Krylon primers with good results.

With the first coat on a body, go with very light coverage to minimize any chance of crazing of the plastic.
