Jim Gibbons Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Here's a neat website that has a few pictures taken of 1961 Wantagh, NY during the same time I lived there. I remember the Carvel and Cherrywood Plaza well. There was a candy store in the Plaza that had Corgi and Dinky Toys, plus model kits. (And a bakery with great cookies my mom would treat us to on occasion!) The Carvel would make a neat diorama. The theatre pic is so '50s...saw my first movie there. I went to Catholic elementary school behind the church in the photo; unfortunately, the church burned down in the mid '70s and was replaced with something far different. Wantagh Dreams
Eshaver Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Thanks for the tour Jim !!!!!!!!!!! I for one never tire of looking at especially "Kitch " archecture . I was at lunch today discussing archectural styles with a friend of mine and of course service stations came up as everyone wanbted to know what exactly if anything was going down on the Twin Chimney diorama I've been working on . Ive had to put htings aside to work on real cars and try and settle my mothers estate . Ed Shaver
