freightshaker Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 So I live in central PA just miles from Spencers Chrome Shop in Allenwood and these guys have some really nice rigs and they run with my dad. So I kinda wanna build something similar to theirs. But they have sleeper boxes on their trucks and they look like a cross between a 60" Restrite and a 60" Mercury Sleeper.. But the sleepers are stand up.. heres a pic of Jason Keelers. He was sponsored on Showrigs.com. Anyone make something like this or should i get the mercury 60" from AITM and modify it. I don't want the diamond shape windows though so I mean that would make it alittle easier.
clayton Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 i would go with the AITM sleeper. I feel like trying to build one like you need will be a day at the bench.
highway Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 I feel like trying to build one like you need will be a day at the bench. Or more!!!! The 180" sleeper I built here took almost a month or more and a LOT of bodywork to get the look I wanted!
clayton Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 (edited) Or more!!!! The 180" sleeper I built here took almost a month or more and a LOT of bodywork to get the look I wanted! Sharp!! are you the same guy that built a blue and what Ford about 4 years a go. it was on the Largecar mag model page??? I was just looking on the AITM at the Mercury 60 Inch if it is a solid casting not much you could do with it,if it comes like a parts kit maybe you cold work with it. Now if you can't work with resin hold out till Nov/DEC AMT will be repoping the road boss and maybe the kits will have the sleepers. Edited September 9, 2010 by clayton
freightshaker Posted September 9, 2010 Author Posted September 9, 2010 Wow thats a really nice sleeper on that Ford. And I thought about ordering one of those sleepers anyways from AITM because I'm sure I'll have something to put it on eventually. I mean if i couldnt use it for this particular project something else will surely come along. I dont want a huge sleeper just a 60 or 70 inch. Im still working on a Freightshaker FLC.

Thanks, I'm glad you like it! Unfortunately, the Ford on the Largecar mag model page is not mine. Believe it or not, this is my first custom sleeper attempt and also my first streched frame! If you want to check out the build, here is a link to it, since it's buried on page 7 here in the truck section, since I've not done an update on it since I haven't updated it since the first part of June (WOW it's been that long!). http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=28849 I guess I really have to get back to work on it!!!
