JRobinson Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 I am looking at a Fujimi 1/24 Porsche 917K kit. I know they are curbside, and that's okay, but I'd like some opinions on the quality and fit of these kits. TIA, JR
Jim Gibbons Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 As Mark said, the Heller/ Union 917s are difficult, but in my opinion, buildable. I've not built the Fujimi, but it sounds like a good one to start with. Too bad Tamiya never did one with engine detail.
Roadkill2525 Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Historic Racing Minatures made a engine kit for the Fujimi 917 HRM at Island Collectibles
Modelmartin Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 I built the Fujimi and the Heller kits. The Fujimi goes together real smoothly and looks great. I think the body shape on the Heller is a tiny bit better but it is nearly unbuildable for the average modeler. The engine is a bad joke! The Fujimi may be a curbside but it has extensive detail because the rear bodywork is so open. Renaissance, Studio 27 also make great detail sets and decals for the Fujimis. Hands down the Fujimi is the kit of choice for a 917K. Fisher Models is the obvious choice for the Longtails and the Pink Pig.
