crazyjim Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Red & gold are the USMC colors and this is my tribute to the greatest fighting force the world has ever known. It's started as the Street Fighter kit and did some things to the kit. I discovered that I could put a wet coat of clear and immediately dust on another color. I did some red over the HOK Pagan Gold. This was also my first (probably last) attempt at pinstriping, but I wanted to highlight a few areas.
george 53 Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Looks good,Jim! Thanks for the good words about the Corps! Been a LONG time out, but the pride remains, and ALWAYS will! SEMPER FI!!!
W-409 Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Wow, this is very very nice model! That Street Fighter kit is not very good, my dad has it and I've never heard anything else positive comments from him than "Well it's 1960 Nomad" (That's very good, because in the garage, there is '60 Impala 2D HT Sport Coupe.) I have Jimmy Flintstone resin kit from '60 Nomad but I'm just waiting better building skills before I start building it... But your looks nice, paintjob is very great and engine looks good too, with those plug wires, nice detailing on it. Just don't like that 70's or 80's style so much, but whatever.
impcon Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Looks good,Jim! Thanks for the good words about the Corps! Been a LONG time out, but the pride remains, and ALWAYS will! SEMPER FI!!! Nice build for sure.. I like what you have done with the paint.. Hey George - not trying to hijack the thread but I just want to pass on many thanks to you and all who have served to keep us ALL free. Thank you!
crazyjim Posted October 1, 2010 Author Posted October 1, 2010 Thank you for the positive comments - I really appreciate them. George53 - SEMPER FI, Brother. Once a Marine, always a Marine. 1st Battalion/13th Marines, Vietnam 1969-70.
crazyjim Posted October 1, 2010 Author Posted October 1, 2010 I didn't care the way the front end fit the body. The engine doesn't have much detail and forget any chassis details. The glass is red! But I liked the body style.
justin2020 Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Looking Good Marine. Now pop in the old hymn and lets all sing along. Semper FI Marine. Cpl. Justin Tisdale 2001 - 2006 P.S. My greatest Hero's are the Veitnam Vets. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!!!
crazyjim Posted October 2, 2010 Author Posted October 2, 2010 (edited) Thanks Justin. Vietnam Veterans were never the "drug crazed baby killers" the media reported. We have always been "just the guy next door." As a group, we wanted things - a memorial to our fallen and missing, a welcome home parade, and respect. It took too many years and we worked our butts off and we got it all. I truly believe that todays troops are treated very well by the public becasue of the issues Vietnam Veterans have gone through. You are a Veteran, Justin and you are my hero. Semper Fi, brother. Edited October 2, 2010 by crazyjim
