Hello fellow modelers.

After building and superdetailing aircraft kits for the past 30 years...I've developed an interest in scale model truck building. I decided to jump right in with the new Italeri Freightliner FLC kit and I'm looking for any build suggestions on the kit. Also, the instructions say the engine is a Cummins diesel 475hp engine....any idea where I can find photos of the engine to detail it?.....color of the engine etc....?

Any insight on this kit would be helpful.

Hey Jeff, welcome!

I haven't built yet this kit, but I have already build too many ITALERI kits and I only have to say that I love the way they are builded.

Be carrefull by reading again and again the instructions, always testfit the parts before glue and you will find out that all the ITALERI kits are ''build them selfs''. Don't panic with the multipiece cab. I find them more easy to build as they are builded as the actual truck is builded.

The Freightliner FLC kit is a very nice kit and I suggest you to buy more than one, you know 1 out-of-the-box, 1 daycab, 1 with custom sleeper, and so goes on.....

Welcome to the forum.

I'll second what has been said about the Italeri kits. I've built several, and they go together smoothly and cleanly. They are multi piece body kits, so do a lot of test-fitting, and follow the sequence in the instructions. I didn't do that on my first Italeri kit, and got into some trouble. I skipped ahead and built some things, without using the instructions, and found that I had to then disassemble them to place parts that should have come first. Good luck, and be sure to show us the completed model.

For me I find it less trouble too build around the floor(using the floor as a jig),use 2 or 3 tiny drops of glue on the floor then on the cab wall's run a full bead on the inside of cab. When the glue sets up using a xacto blade brake the bound from the floor and wall's and move on. Now thats the way I do it I maybe going the long way but it works for me.

if you need idea's here is a good site.hanks truck site

Jeff,

Good Luck with the build. I never built an Italeri kit before but from the comments from others on the forum they appear to be very good kits to build. So I think for a first of you made a good choice.
