Hattley Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 The car I’m working on has a Herringbone type design on the seats and door panels. The kit provided decals, however it looked nothing like the original style and, well… it’s a decal. That said, it occurred to me when I noticed some wire mesh on the workbench that I could possibly mask off, then cut and shape some pieces over the areas where I wanted the Herringbone or something similar anyway, to be. Once that was completed I just misted some flat and gloss over it and that was that. Overall it looks good and even better at arms length Ha! I feel it created the illusion I wanted and I look forward to doing some more of this technique in the near future.

Hattley Posted October 7, 2010 Author Posted October 7, 2010 That's a great idea, thank you! Hey Mark, If you'd like to take that one step further you fan shoot it on decal paper instead of directly on your parts. That way you can get it tighter in the creases and it's easier to get it on strait.
