h3ae86 Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 This build was for my brother so hence the name Brostang. It was finished in May or June I think. I'm not much of a Ford guy but for some reason I like shelby's, and older fords like the deuce. My little brother likes mustangs and bought this kit for me to build and I didn't want to be mean so I built it for him, and he's really happy with it. He still shows it to his friends when they come over. I did finally managed to do a half decent paint job at least compared to my other tries. It's still no where near the level I've seen looking around here. The only thing I really did to this was adding the exhaust tips. since this was taken I've sanded down the hood and resprayed it flat black and it looks much cleaner. DUSTY!! Thanks for looking
Greg Cullinan Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 I like the blue. And the exhaust is in a perfect place. Painting these little cars isn't easy .
3men2s Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 (edited) As for me I love MUSTANGS, Like the concept. when it come to paint, I am not a pro but I have learn the hard way, Start by preping the body before painting. get 600 sand paper and clean all mold lines get a 1000 grid sandpaper and smooth the lines and then wash the body with soppy water and let it dry. if you use putty or some sore of bondo with a different color of the body, prime the body, light gray works for me. let it dry, then wet sand then primer, let it dry good. when primer is dried, if you are pacient and can wait a day so all the fumes are out of it, then paint with color. before you spray the body , spray away, to clear the nossle of the can so the paint does not spit a blobbeb in your car. first coat, light, one coat don't try to cover the hall car with paint, you need to create a layer first so the next coat can stick and not run....wait 30 minutes for the second second coat, a little more coats,,,stop...30 minutes...and the third coat should be the last one. move the car to a close palse with no dust, or wind that could bring dirt particles. let it dry for 2 to 3 days,...work on something else untill then, I have drop dozens of wet painted bodies to the floor because of this. after the 3 day, put the decals if you have to. and if the paint dried dull...pray it with clear gloss and let it dry for a few days were is no dust. this will improve your paint a lot later master the polishing tecnics from the pros, I am not there jet, but is part of growing in the hobby. keep it up and whats up YOU DO not LIKE the mustangs...they are BAD, MEAN AMERICAN MACHINES MAN!!! Thanks for the tips. I'l have to try them on my next build, whenever that's gonna be. As for cars I'm more for tuners like nissan/datsun or toyota. But when it comes to American muscle I'm a mopar guy. I grew up around people that were always raggin on fords but I think the old 60's mustangs are ok but they just aren't that impressive to me but thats just my opinion
