cazxr2 Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 (edited) Was unsure what to build as my stash is getting bigger by the week. 29 now, I know that's not a lot to some of u guys. But it's a lot for me. And really hard choosing one to build, as I want to build them all. So I numbered them all and got my wife to pick a number and out pops the charger. I thought great I was well up for the charger as it's 1 of my favourite muscle cars. But a was so disappointed by the build quality of this kit. So far there so much flash that Ive spent more time cutting and trimming than painting. So I thought I'm not going for oob. Here's a few pics anyway. Sorry it's upside down lol. It's painted ford violet purple going to be White interior with loads of chrome. Definatly the worst kit I've built never mind it's an experience.!! Edited October 28, 2010 by cazxr2
ewaskew Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Take the experience find the things you do'nt like and change them on another detailed one. Your off to a good start anyway.
Guest Sickfish Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 I agree, it's an horrendous kit, considering Revell's '68 & '69 Charger are both avail' & waaaaay much better than this pathetic amt offering. A real '70 Charger is avail' in resin, if you're interested . The best thing to do with this kit is exactly what you're doing... Customizing it however you like Cheers & good luck
davyou5 Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 Well I have never seen the Fast and the Furious but that Charger looks like the '70 Special Edition that took on the 69 body style. Anyway a bad kit or no I like that color you put onto the body , keep up the good work.
cazxr2 Posted October 29, 2010 Author Posted October 29, 2010 Thanks everybody for all the comments. I will Try my best to sproose it up a bit. But davu05 use never seen fast and furious? U NEED to see the full set all 4 films. Maybe the storys are a bit far fetched but the cars r cool. I have several more Amt fast and furious kits. Hoping that they r in better quality.
highway Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 I have several more Amt fast and furious kits. Hoping that they r in better quality. The Mitsubishi Eclipse and Toyota Supra are both much better that the Charger, since they were all new tools. The only ones to stay away from are the older cars with maybe the exception of the 70 Monte Carlo, since I can't remember if the Monte Carlo was a new tool or a modified reissue. The Charger and the 69 Camaro Yenko are both poor quality kits because the Charger has been reissued as the "Dukes of Hazzard" General Lee and the various other forms of the Charger over the years and the Yenko is also from a very old MPC mold that has seen many reissues over the years. Those molds may have been great in the early 70s when they first were made, but are junk compared to todays technology!
cazxr2 Posted October 29, 2010 Author Posted October 29, 2010 (edited) Got a small update kit engine is RUBISH!! But lucky I had a spare engine in the spares box. Not sire where it came from, I glued the kit supplied supercharger on top. Added some chrome on the roll cage. And a quick mock up of the supercharger popping out of the hood. cazxr2 Posted November 7, 2010 Author Posted November 7, 2010 Hi all this is going on the back burner for a while. Im just fed up of how bad the fit is. So it's just going to sit on a shelf for a bit. Advice to anyone stay clear of this kit it's terrible
DRG Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 That's a darn shame as I loved that car. Darn near cried when it got wrecked at the end.
