slant6 Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 I didn't take to many pictures, since I didn't do anything to interesting. This is my first time doing the entire body with the airbrush, overall I think It came out pretty good, the color is GM's Atomic orange metallic from Scale finishes. I also cut the carbon fiber inserts on the side from scratch. You may be able to see a thumb print at the bottom of the door panel, somehow I got superglue on my thumb during final assembly, but I wasn't gonna start over. Thanks for looking!
Harry P. Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 You might be able to polish out that fingerprint... or at least minimize it.
slant6 Posted October 31, 2010 Author Posted October 31, 2010 (edited) I was thinking about trying, but I didnt want to mess up my first good airbrush paint job (any more at least). I'm also not to clear on what I should be using for polishing. I just get the smoothest paint job I can via wet sanding and being as careful as possible, and then throw on some future. Harry P. Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 If that was just bare paint I would have tried an automotive polishing compound or a model polishing kit to rub out the print... but since you already have clear on it (and the model is already finished), trying to polish it out might just wind up making a bigger problem. I'd say leave it alone in that case.
slant6 Posted October 31, 2010 Author Posted October 31, 2010 I shows up better in the picture than it does in the case. Im just gonna leave it, but in the future, Ill try to polish out the mistakes. I just really dont know how the super glue got on my left thumb, when I had it in my right hand and my hands never touched.
davyou5 Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 (edited) I just really dont know how the super glue got on my left thumb, when I had it in my right hand and my hands never touched. It almost like how a shirt you hang up in the closet straight later on becomes all crooked and tangled, It's mind boggling! Believe me when I tell you I feel your pain and I have done something similiar more than once ! These Freak accidents always happen one way or another, And for the Future and this is something I remind myself to do every time, When gluing new pieces on, I always make sure my hands are free of glue and Washed. I also make sure there is nothing on the spot were the model and parts are placed that would disturb even a fresh paint job, IE access cut sprue, dried up Cement glue, etc. Take all of these steps and you will minimize the chances of a freak accident . But that is one great looking model you have there, Great job . Edited October 31, 2010 by davyou5
TheCat Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 Really nice work Will. Love the color. I know the feeling. That also happened to me as well. To correct it, I just touched it up a little with future. It's not that noticeable, but it's still there. Like you I didn't want to make it worse.
