TheCat Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 (edited) As Tamiya kits go, this one was a fun build. As always, I try to make my models look like the real thing. I was tired of the typical red or black color that many builders paint the Porsche 911 in. So I decided to paint this 911 in Tamiya Champagne Gold. And May I say, I love the how good the color looks on this kit. This kit went so well together that I'm thinking of buying another one to build. But I'm going to correct some of my earlier techniques. There's a couple minor things that I was not too happy with on this kit and would like to correct. I've learned so much since this kit was built back on 2006. I didn't want to correct this one. I wanted to keep this one as I built it back then, so I can see how much I've learned & advanced since then. Like an artist. They never go back and correct their earlier masterpieces. Thank you for looking and hope you enjoy my little masterpiece. Model: Tamiya 24279 Model built year: 10-15-2006 Note: I hand painted all the black trimming, and the gloss black on the wheels. Adam144 Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 That looks great! My dad has a 1:1 1979 Porsche 930 (911 Turbo). How did you find the quality of this model to be? I'm looking to build a replica of his car for him, it has early 90's wheels and a bunch of other goodies. It's Petrol Blue, seems to be a pretty difficult paint to match. Your model looks fantastic though, I love how you followed through with the little details on the black trim.

I have Fujimi's, Hasegawa and Revell kits, and I have to say that this Tamiya kit is the best for a early and late 80's Porsche 911. It goes together very well and it even gives you photo-etch for the Turbo Logo that goes on the back of the Porsche. I like it so much that I'm going to buy another one.
Adam144 Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Thank you very much for the information. I'm going to have to order one of these for sure. I appreciate that you included the kit number as well. I look forward to your next build.
davyou5 Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Actually when I lived in Florida around the Jacksonville area, I did see one of these 911's 1:1 painted in a similiar color. Yes I agree that the gold paint on this car looks great! Excellent Job!
