Hi everyone! I just got a new Fred Cady decal sheet in the mail and the envelope had one corner very wet. I opened it, the decal sheet was in between two pieces of thin cardboard, which were also wet, along with the decal sheet. I could slip the decals on it, but thought I would let it dry as it is. So my question is, if I let it dry, will those decals still be useable for future use?

I'm by no means a decal expert, but I would guess you are pretty well...you can probably guess the four letter word I'm thinking of.

Seriously, I would guess if they got wet enough you could slide them around on the backing, that would also mean they got wet enough to activate the adhesive, which in the best case you might get them off the sheet, but they would probably never stick to the model. The worst case is you'll never get them off the sheet again.

I would really say the best bet, and what I would do, is if you bought them from an online store, hobby supplier, etc. or a decal seller on ebay, I would contact them immediatly and demand a replacement or refund. If the seller can replace them, demand they at least seal the next set in a Ziploc bag to protect them so the same does not happen again. If it was a case that you bought them from a private seller on ebay, I would still see if you could get your money back, and in your feedback, make sure you mention the seller does not ship decals in a weatherproof manner.

The only other alternative I could give you is if they are still in good condition to where the artwork has not been ruined, scan them and see if you can reprint them on good decal paper or see if someone here could print a set for you.

I hope at least something I said helps out, and I'm sorry to hear this happened.

Thanks for your reply. I'll try to contact the seller and see what happens.

The sheet has dried now. The problem I see is that the area that was wet was right on the white hood decal, which I intend on using for this build. And now that it is dried, I can see a yellowish mark all around the edge of the wet area, right on the middle of the white hood decal...
