FASTBACK340 Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 The past year has been a roller coaster for my Wife & me. We had a battle with the NYC water dept. over a HUGE billing mistake that took 7 months to resolve. Then our 16 yr. old Mutt got very ill and we lost her last May. Then a nightmare with our mortgage company over a clerical error while we were rebuilding the house...juggling our job responsibilities... spending too much money....and having a meltdown at work forcing me to change jobs. Then my Father-in-law starts with Chemotherapy... and my Brother-in-law is on a Liver transplant list in California. End result? We're thankful we finished our house and moved in. We're thankful our financial issues are resolved, and in our favor. We're thankful my un-expected job change was in our favor, with more money and a better environment. We're thankful my Wife's Father is stable and his aliment is non-threatening. We're thankful our jobs are secure and we haven't had any financial issues with the economic sleigh ride we went on. Many I know didn't/aren't faring as well. We're thankful my Brother-in-law is coming to stay with us for Christmas. We're thankful my Wife, myself, and our families are healthy and happy. We're thankful we rescued an adorable Mutt last Sunday that's rapidly becoming one of us. I hope everyone's Thanksgiving is as meaningful as ours is today.
impcon Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 (edited) Well said!!!!!!!!!! Perhaps you should start a new thread asking members to post the things that THEY can and should be thankful for on Thanksgiving and also, in their daily lives. That should stir some brain cells and help us ALL to realize that really, we ALL have SO much to be thankful for and life really isn't as bad as we sometimes allow ourselves to think it is. just a thought... FASTBACK340 Posted November 25, 2010 Author Posted November 25, 2010 Thanksgiving is for friends and family. Your new family member sure is cute! Happy Thanksgiving to all. Yeah, he's a winner. We were having a hard time finding a Dog through various rescues (which would be a healthy rant for another thread.....) when along came this guy. The good folks at Sean Casey Animal Rescue in Prospect Park, Brooklyn found him tied up in front of the shelter with no note...no tags...nothing. They took him in and gave him the once-over. Shots, neutered, rabies vaccine, and he's micro-chipped. Best reason guessed why he was abandoned is that either he grew too big to be handled, not enough room, or he was bowling over children because he's a big & clumsy puppy. He's housebroken, knows basic commands, walks well (for me...) on a leash, and doesn't bark, whine, or growl. Not to mention he's a big mush. He's a German Shepherd / Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. He's estimated to be about 10 months old and is 65 lbs. He has about 8 months more of growing yet.... After loosing our Dog Angel last May, we knew we'd get another when the time was right. This big loveable lug came along and is fitting right in. As a matter of fact, the circulation in my left foot is cut off because someone is laying on my foot right now.... And I'm fine with it.
