This is only the tip of a the iceberg. In spite of all our new teen driving laws, kids are not getting the message. Here in Simsbury, we have had several accidents involving teenagers . As a lineman for the power company, I am often on the scene when they hit utility poles. Just two weeks ago, an eighteen year old driving his girlfriends fathers' pickup lost control and smashed through two poles, Fortunately no one was seriously injured. Last year a fourteen year old and some friends "borrowed" a nieghbors car and ended up smashing into a pole. Serious injuries occured to the rear seat passenger. Please take a moment to talk to your kids, check on the kids who are driving, and consider not letting them drive with other kids who can and will distract them. Consider this, the younger brother of the driver in the first accident I mentioned was in an accident last weekend. He went to pick up some friends who had too much to drink. Responsible.right? 5 teenagers in a celica, three drunk, one really rowdy, caused him to miss a red light. Car totaled, one concussion, one broken wrist. These are my sons' classmates and it is scary to arrive on an accident scene thinking that this could have been my son. Our thoughts are with the families of those killed, and lets all work hard at preventing this from happening again.
