crazyjim Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Got this kit in a trade and I'm not sure what the frame is from. The paint is HOK Kandy purple over a silver basecoat and topped off with Tamiya clear pearl. Headlight are spotlights from somewhere. Big block Chevy engine from somewhere with polished aluminum tubing exhaust. I had to tub it to get those big M/T Sportsman tires from Ma's Resin underneath. Did a roll & pleated interior from Evergreen. The air cleaners & seats are my own castings. I rolled the rear pan under a little and cut in ovals for the taillights.

george 53 Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 VERY nice job,Jim!. Isn't pleating the interior like that a pure joy???? i did the seats on a 70 Swinger conversion once, and THAT is the major reason I've never built the second one! Looks good Daddy-O!
montelsc Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 kkkkkkkkkkkkkkiiiiiiiiiiiiiilllllllllllllleeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrr jim really cool george nice work
davyou5 Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 I like that Color, All around Excellent build! B) .
crazyjim Posted December 9, 2010 Author Posted December 9, 2010 Hey thanks guys. The paint is HOK kandy purple that I got from TCP Global. I buy in 2 oz bottles already mixed. The interior wasn't so bad. It was a fairly small tub to do. I did my best at making a polished aluminum tilt column. Came out pretty good, I think.
outlaw035 Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 very nice jim...like the interior....luv the way it sits and the roll pan in the back looks grt8...like the big exhaust pipe too...ques how u make the shifter boot???...i have tried a few things but cant im not happy with the results....neal
Jantrix Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Great work Jim. It's nice to see this one done up a lil different.
crazyjim Posted December 9, 2010 Author Posted December 9, 2010 Thanks folks. Neal, the shifter is a one piece out deal of the parts bin. I just painted the shifter knob red and the boot part semi-gloss black. One of my plans is to cast a shifter boot, drill it and glue a piece of wire and use several layers of Krystal Klear to make the shifter knob. Or maybe save some time and use those pins with the colored knob already there.
parki Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Great build love the interior, where did you find the dashboard and instrements?
crazyjim Posted December 9, 2010 Author Posted December 9, 2010 The dash & panel are part of the '37 Chevy kit. I should have molded and casted the instrument cluster. And Neal, shifter boots are in the mold as we speak. Hopefully cast some tomorrow.
vaughn Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Like it Jim. Like the idea of pins with colored heads as a shifter. cool.
John Teresi Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Really cool detail with the interior........good job.
crazyjim Posted December 10, 2010 Author Posted December 10, 2010 Thanks fellas. I would paint the pin heads a color to match the interior. The boot molds should be set up so I'll try casting them later on.

crazyjim Posted December 10, 2010 Author Posted December 10, 2010 Kick myself in the butt, Adam. But then I remembered that I have another '37 Chevy kit that I can make a mold from. Several different shifter boots have been molded and cast. They don't look too bad.
