crazyjim Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 I was thinking about trying to make a cowl induction hood by cutting slits in the hood, bending the plastic up, and use some Evergreen to fill the sides. Does that make sense or is there a better way?
Peter Lombardo Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 Jim, I do it just like that all the time....it will work fine, just use some putty to round the contours so it looks natural. By the way, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
crazyjim Posted December 25, 2010 Author Posted December 25, 2010 Thanks Peter. And Merry Christmas to you too.
Eric Stone Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 I've never personally done it that way, but I've seen that exact method shown in a book. It also included adding a few scale inches to the back of the raised part to lengthen it toward the windshield to compensate for the bit of length lost by bending the middle up.
crazyjim Posted December 25, 2010 Author Posted December 25, 2010 You wouldn't happen to have that article around somewhere that it could be scanned or copied and emailed or snail mailed to me would you, Eric? Or post it here on the forum?
Nova-ss Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 That would be nice.I've never heard of making a cowl induction hood that way so if we can get the info on how do...that would be great.have a merry christmas and thanks,Chris

Or post it here on the forum? Not handy... I'm thinking it's just something I saw once that had stuck in my mind. I don't know if I saw it in a book, SAE, or Model Cars, or if I own a copy of it somewhere, or just read it on a newsstand at some point.
