All Pontiac V8 engines from 59-65 were a Sky Blue. The photo is of freshly rebuilt '62 421 for reference. It's pretty easy to mix up your own match from hobby paints. You can also order a lifetime supply by buying a spray can of actual engine enamel from Classic Industries, Summit or any similar outlet.

I'm no expert on AMC engines but I think the '69 390's were a Metallic Blue. Hopefully someone who know for sure will jump in with more info.

Right Steve.............AMC 390's were a bit of a metallic blue with a very slight hint of green------the exact name was called "Alamosa Aqua". My 1:1 '69 AMX's engine was painted in that color. Here are a couple pics out of a restored car..............

This shouldn't be too hard to mix manually.............some dark blue and a touch of green, and some aluminum to mix. Just keep adding the aluminum to the blue/green til you get it.

For the early 1960's Pontiac Engines, the Tamiya Sprayc color, i believe it is called "coral Blue", is to my eye a near exact match.

For the AMC engine, you can try custom mixing the color, but for the best accuracy, i recommend purchasing a can of AMC Engine Blue spray paint. It will last you probably for the rest of tyour life, and can be mail-ordered abnd arrive at your door for most likely less than $15 in just a few days. I also recoommend 1.1 scale engine paint for the Silver Blue metallic color for mid-1960's to early 1970's Pontiacs, as Testor's Pontiac Engine blue brush paint is too silver./not enough blue for my taste.
