I was just wondering if anyone knows of any tutorials or “how to’s†that are available for instructions on frame set-ups for lowering cars?

I typically build street machine and pro street style model cars but I would like my next project to be an extreme low-rider.

I’m sure I could hack my way through it but if anyone has any advice on proper frame modifications for lowering model cars it would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

J

I primarily build lowriders and you can scratch build just about any suspension that you need, and build your own hydro cylinders, pumps, thats what I do and to get a lot of tech you have to visit this forum Layitlow.com Its a forum for real lowriders and has a lowrider model section. the link should take you right to the model section. Great resource for lowriders including pics from the real cars to the model section. Some members on this forum are members over there as well. Truscale (Eric) for one, awesome builder and great guy, he can help you out here as well.

Hey Jesse ...Darrin gives good advice...I would ask what car are you going to do? Different rides with different ways to slam them. You can bag it, go with hydros, or cut and notch, move things around a bit...what "years" are you looking to model...from the 60s to 2000 slammin a ride sure has changed...

I came across a free Jimmy Flintstone chopped '55 Nomad. I've only built a few resin kits in he past and I usually go with a different resin company but this was a free body. It's all ready chopped so I figured i would look nice lowered as well.

Kool choice...IMHO...I would do a modest drop on that one, reverse the axle in the back, move the spindles up in front..With the right wheel choice you will have a slammed stunner....
