roush16 Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 Hello all. Just got back into cars after a 15 year stretch of building mostly armor and monster models. I painted a Subaru WRX with Tamiya lacquer paint. After my coats of paint I used novus step 1 on the finish. I was wondering if I can now clear over the Novus. I dont think its silicone based so I dont think it should be a problem but want to be sure. The paint has been curing for almost a month now. Thanks for any help. Anthony.
MikeMc Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 Yes you can....Novus is one of the few w/o silicone.
Ryan S. Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 Just to add, you can't put future over Novus either. It won't stick and just runs off.
LoneWolf15 Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Anthony, Wash the body off with Top Job and warm water , rinse thoroughly , blow dry it with compressed air and then apply your clear . You would be taking an unnecessary chance by shooting clear over the Novus . Wash it off and go from there . Donn Yost

Donn Yost Donn is right on...I assumed that you would wash the body off before repainting...I use 2 drops of dawn in water to cut fingeroils.
