ffreak Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Worked for one like that he wouldn't let us charge higher but wanted us to pad the hours instead! Basically he wanted to use the low rate to draw the customers in but make as much as the other shops by over charging hours. The guy that ran the VW shop paid us an hourly + commission, charged a really low rate and only billed on actual hours not book! He made his money on bulk business! We were always busy and made good money! That's the way we were at G/Y, with an hourly + small commission. We never actually got that $100 per hour. This other one with the low rate did exactly as you said. Made me charge the low rate but tried to make me pad the book time such as rounding up the say 2.3 hr. time to 3.0 and such. I loved my customers and respected them too much to do that. Many of them had followed me around for years and trusted me. I always prided myself in being honest and fair to loyal customers.
Junkman Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Glad to hear you caught a break! Glad someone did! We finally got upenough cash to put 4 new tires on the car we bought from her dad! The ones on it were on it new in 1999! The car sat a lot and they had dry rotted and started separating. First night we had the new tires some yayhoo thought it would be fun to cut the two towards the side wailk as they passed by!!!! ( Like to get my hands on them!!!) Got two 10 dollar junkyard tires that I hand mounted on it until we can buy two more new ones. What kind of a neighborhood do you live in?
