Pollock Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 Here's my latest project. started with a Italeri 378, added a P&P hood and sleeper top, stretched the frame 3 1/2inches, lowered the suspension 3/16", lowered the cab, hood, and sleeper 1/8", installed full deck, recessed the hub centers on the rear wheels 1/8". Going to order some P&P RF4 fenders for the rear, texas front bumper, and some bullet headlights this week. Planning to paint the frame and body Sub-lime green.
highway Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 (edited) That's looking nice so far Josh, I can't wait to see more. Edited May 30, 2011 by highway
cowboysevens Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 that is gonna be one sharp looking rig when its done, i really like what your doing with this 379 !!
Porky Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Hey Josh That is looking pretty sweeeeeeet !!! I like seeing pics of our parts being used. I noticed you siad you wated to get some of our RF4 fenders for it but they are 1/25 scale and I don't think they will fit, all the rest of the rear fenders I am casting now are 1/24 scale and should work fine.
Pollock Posted May 31, 2011 Author Posted May 31, 2011 sorry Eric, I was looking at the wrong list( I'm building a 1/25 RG pete at the same time). I will be using the RF2 fenders on this one, probably send you an order tomorrow. Thanks for making your products, they are super nice and super easy to use
Pollock Posted May 31, 2011 Author Posted May 31, 2011 If anyone out there knows where I can get a 1/24 scale 3406 or big cummins so I can ditch this detroit that came in the kit I would love to get one for this truck. the oilpan on the detroit is hitting the front axle and wont sit down in the frame at all. Any suggestions?

Any suggestions? have you tried lifting the motor up enouph to have clearance? also im not positive but i think if you used a 1/25 front fender it will problly take away the "flat spot" look and be more rounded to the tire. good luck i cant wait to see this one finished maybe you can talk somebody that has a revell ford aeromax 120 into trading you motors, they come witha 460 cummings and an 18 speed tranny Edited May 31, 2011 by cowboysevens

I tried to lift it but with the total of 5/16" taken out of the truck it hits the hood. Probably could take the pan off and turn it around like the Cat motors but then I still have a 60 series Detroit in a custom truck
Kostas Parchas Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Nice Peterbilt you have on the go there!!! Keep us posted. Kostas.

Hey Josh, I do cast a 1/25 scale 379 conversion, I can send you a set of the fenders for it if you want to give them a try like Dennis said. Also have some pretty cool looking Pete Hot Rod fenders for a 359 in 1/25 scale that may look good on it. We have the KTA600 Cummins but I guess it would be too old of an engine for this project but I think I have a couple of those Ford Aeromax kits somewhere around here and one is missing tires and wheels so I would let the engine in it go too I guess. Whatever I can do to help out just let me know.

Pollock Posted May 31, 2011 Author Posted May 31, 2011 okay so after getting the bright idea of modifying the detroit with a different oilpan and twin turbo to make it unique( may it rest in pieces) I am game for a new engine. So i decided to start a side project out of my parts box last night..... Okay back to the first project, I used epoxy to assemble the hood kit so I'm really scared to remove the fenders without damaging the hood. Eric, I'm interested in the cummins so I'll email you with my wishlist tonight. I'm going to try another 379 after this one so I will try the hot rod fenders on it so I dont screw-up the first hood. thanks for all the great support cowboysevens and highway, I like to trade but I think I did more damage than can be reversed on the motor but thanks for offering to trade. I'm going to look thru my parts kits and see if I might have more and I'll get with ya thanks everyone for the good words
scale trucker Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 i have the 460 cummins from the ford.so if ya need it pm me....
Pollock Posted June 11, 2011 Author Posted June 11, 2011 Okay I shot a quick coat of paint on the truck to see how it is going to look then sanded more because I found a few spots I wasnt completely happy with but here are some quick pictures I also lenghtened my driveshaft using some scrape aluminum tubing I had laying around
mackinac359 Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 Put the lime in the cocoa-nut ! Wow - THAT is lime green. Cool. Tim

Pollock Posted June 11, 2011 Author Posted June 11, 2011 thanks guys! I'm hoping to shoot the final coats of paint and clear it this weekend. I didnt think I'd like the color but it is definately growning on me
Pollock Posted June 12, 2011 Author Posted June 12, 2011 Okay here it is, finaly painted. I used Model Master Sublime Green and Boyds clear on it. I did 3 coats of the green and let it dry for a hour in the sun then came back with 3 coats of the clear over the whole truck. the pictures arent really doing it any justice but it looks great.Hope you all like it
Pollock Posted June 13, 2011 Author Posted June 13, 2011 Lookin' good. Going to put a trailer on it? Thank! Yeah planning a 53 ft super hopper that i'm going to scratch build after i finish the truck so I can get the stance right
