Jared Roach Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 So most of my builds I like to give at least a little polish to smooth it out some. Well I've been working on a 91 gmc Syclone and the paint has been polished out. It shines perfect, but there is some minor light scratches in the paint. What can I do to get these out? Maybe a final wax or something? I'm not really sure so if you guys got an idea let me know. Thanks Btw I'm using meguiar's scratch x polish.
Mike Kucaba Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 There could be something on the cloth your using to apply the scratch X . The scratches could be something from underneath, coming thru the final paint. You didn't mention if you used any of the Micro-mesh cloths or pads, but they can develop little (I couldn't see them without my magnifying visor)cracks, mostly in the finer grits 4000 and above.
jbwelda Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 at this point you might be able to final polish it out with a low-abrasion polish, like toothpaste. the finish with a wax or plastic coat equivalent. another way to make tiny scratches disappear is with a thin coat of future floor wax.
