Guest roadkill2525 Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Anyone with experience in builing lowriders can you please help me, this subject is new to me in. Im mainly a muscle car and 80s-90s NASCAR builder with a few tuners. I would like to build the more classic style of lowriders such as the Impala, Monte Carlo, Riveria, Bel Air, Continental, De Ville and Bonneville. Here's somethings im looking for. Good and bad kits for lowriders Aftermarket parts outside of wheels Paint for body and interior
Steve H. Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 1. Revell 64 Impala... The number one choice around here! Monte Carlos are also pretty popular. 2. Pegasus and Hoppin' Hydros has a lot of other parts like hydraulic pumps, seats, steering wheels, etc... 3. Whatever you like, but classic low riders tend to use a lot of candies I'm not a low rider builder, but since I live in CA, I see a lot on the tables... Take a look at my contest photos... you'll probably find a lot of examples http://public.fotki.com/ModelCarGuy2003/model_car_shows/
Guest roadkill2525 Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 We have imports, muscle cars, and 4x4s in this area but there are a couple of lowriders here. Currently working on Revell 63 and 65 Impalas. Im trying to find continental kits, fender skirts, antennas, roof visors, and other lowrider bits. I can get a hold of the wheels pretty easily.
RJWood Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 Michael, there is a Continintal kit in the AMT/ERTL 62 Buick Electra kit that would be easy to adapt to your chevy. or better yet a 62 Buick Electra is an excelent kit to do as a lowrider. also check out the 62 Pontiac Catalina custom also AMT. It has some cool stuff for a lowriders. 8)
BigPoppa Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 check out the model section in Layitlow.com. They can be rude and crude and exceptionally hard on newbie's, but it's a great source of info Check out the 1970 Monte Carlo lowrider, it comes with lots of detailed parts that will point you in the right direction when it comes to hydraulics.
jbwelda Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 wow i just went to that layitlow site...man that place makes war here look like peace! they are right about the donks though.
