I finally was able to aquire a Revell Miata kit to build a replica of my 1:1 car. First order of business was to cut open the headlight doors, doors and trunk and to fabricate the hinges. I have added the underhood bracing as well as the trunk bracing. The glove box and gas filler will be hinged as well. The wheels and tires are narrowed Pegasus pieces.

Very nice project. If you live in MD you should come out to the Mid-Atlantic NNL in Towson MD. It is May 12 the day before Mothers day.

Bring the miata with you so all can check it out.

Zoli,,,,,it's a shame you missed the meeting. Walt Rook had his Miata and Nick Sickle showed up with his BRAND NEW one.

Forgive the young Mr. Epstein. Sometimes he thinks he is my long lost Puerto Rican son. Sometimes he thinks he is an old character from Welcome Back Kotter. He knows not that you are the man who scratchbuilds the incredible fire apparatus that usually wins a trophy every year at our NNL.

i too am building a replica of my 1:1 miata but using the tamiya kit. i am currently stalled from trying to stuff too large wheels and tires under the fenders...it was much easier on the real thing.

what are you going to do for a motor for this one? modify a lotus twin cam? they are close enough it wouldnt be that big a chore to do so...check out oh i forget who made them...white metal lotus twin cam motor...maybe it was replicas and miniatures of maryland? i put one in a thames truck that i modified to be a lotus parts deliver truck and it looks sweet...probably just sanding off the "lotus" from the valve covers would make it close to the miata twin cam.

this motor originated in the gunze sangyo lotus elan with motor but it would be easier and cheaper to just buy the white metal repop

Thanks for the compliments. Hopefully I can keep my attention on this one and complete it. Lyle, I checked out NIcks new ride the day after he got it. Nice ride, not exactly what I would have pictured him in though. I however offere my asistance in de-chickifying his car.

As for the motor, the revell kit has a complete drivetrain unlike the Tamiya kit which is a curb side. I'm using the Pegasus wheels since they are the closest thing I could find that resembles my wheels.

Here is a pic of my 1:1 Miata;

thanks for the reply; evidently ive never seen the revell kit because i didnt know it came with a motor...is it very realistic?

i made some comments on your car on the other thread, about 1:1 rides...esp those headlamps.

aint nothing chick car about a miata or at least not when you get into one and go into corners...will leave most steroid cars in the dust in my experience.
