This is a Kia?

Recommended Posts

I was cruising some of the 1:1 car websites before I head off to bed, and I came across this gem of a concept from Kia of all companies! I was BLOWN away by the looks of this car, and one can only hope they come out with something very close to this.

Now I'm sure this is not everyone's cup of tea, but for someone like me who's not real big into four doors, THIS I would buy!

It has a little bit of Lamborghini Estoque Concept as well as 2011 Jaguar XJ in it, nice. I have to admit it's cool to see Kia making cars that people actually stop and notice now. The latest Forte Koup, Optima, Sorento, Sportage, etc. They all look upscale ( like an Acura or Lexus), but not with the luxury price tag. Admittedly when I first saw the Forte Koup, I was like "Honda Civic Ripoff", but it's really grown on me and I wouldn't mind owning one, or a new Optima for that matter. Hyundai is following suit as well.

kia has a car out called the forte which i wouldnt mind owning

at the same time hyundai (who shares a lot of parts with kia) has a few cars that look great , the 05-08 tiburon and the genesis for instance

these two companies are trying to do to lexus what lexus did to to toyoya 20 years ago

having owned a huydai (with kia components) i can tell you the quality is there

I'm not trying to spark debate or say it's a good or bad thing...That looks like a 2020 evolution of the current Charger to me. I remember when I first started seeing KIAs. They had a mini SUV (Sportage?) that came with debadged Alpine CD players. (They were the aftermarket kind, not some junk that KIA made under the Alpine name like GM and Chrsyler have done with Bose & Infinity.) I thought that was a pretty neat innovation in itself so, no surprise KIA is coming up with some quality products.

As someone who has "drank the Kool-Aid" so to speak, I recently purchased a new 2011 Kia Sorento SX crossover. It is an amazing vehicle IMHO. The car you posted about is a concept of a rumored future product of Kia that is a rear wheel drive sedan based on the Hyundai Genesis Coupe platform. The info I have read regarding future Hyundai/Kia products indicate this car to be the size of a BMW 3-Series. With the 275hp turbo 4 and the upcoming 334hp DFI V6 that will be available in the 2013 Genesis Coupe, this would be a wonderful addition to their lineup.

As someone who has been in the import auto parts business for more than 15 years now, I have seen a tremendous jump in quality of the Korean cars. Their build quality and durability is right there with the best of them and it is interesting to see how well their sales have taken off.

In my extended family alone, we have purchased 3 Hyundais in the last 2 years and everyone has been quite happy with their purchases. Oil changes have been the extent of their service needs and no nagging warranty issues for any of us.

Keep an eye on Hyundai and Kia, they are building market share and offering some innovative new vehicles that appeal to a variety of ages, something a car company has to do to survive.

I agree that the Korean car makers have advanced by light years in a relatively short time. They don't take a back seat to anyone anymore.

they spent that time studying honda and toyota thats why their stuff has been on or above their level. now if they could just make a pick up truck

Don't think the thought hasn't crossed their minds ... KIA Pickup

That looks like a RAV4 hit an FJ cruiser head on and they just melted (read melded) together. Too bad they aren't the innovators that bring mini trucks back to the forefront. I'm a little impartial but, we need a company to bring back small trucks...that are actually trucks and sip gas.

Seeing Hyundai and Kia catch up with Toyota and Honda is a great thing for everyone. It will force the bigger companies to strive to be better and should make them be more competitive with pricing.
