catd11rpusher Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 I would like to know where I can get shifters that look like real shifters, Like the fuller I use all the time. the freightliner flc has a real looking shifter. Does anybody know?
Rob Z Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 You can try here, they have a bunch of stuff... http://sourkrautsmodeltrucks.com/?page_id=3&category=3
highway Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Mike, almost every Italeri US truck kit has the same shifter as the FLC, here's the one in my Ford LTL 9000. Also, if you notice, I corrected the shifter to look the way it should, or at least the way every truck I drove was, and heated the shifter slightly so I could twist the shifter head around to the correct position. Of course, I like this idea for a shifter better!

I have driven trucks with the switch both ways, the Volvo I used to drive had a finger tip switch and my '73 9000 had a thumb switch, I honestly prefered the finger tip switch...

Yeah, I got the shotgun idea from a towing company's truck I seen earlier this year and thought it was awesome. As for the switch, I forgot to add the flip switch on the front of the shifter, even though I was planning on making it look like a 13 or 18 speed's shifter. That's why I painted the thumb switch red!
cappy625 Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 i use to drive an old R model mack that had an old beer tap handle for a shifter that was pretty cool.
