RyanSilva Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 What type of transmission is this? Looking for a short tranny to cast for my flatheads, but i have no idea what it is modeled after. Thats a 392/354/331 hemi from AMT 53 studebaker. Thanks!!
flatheadgary Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 it looks like an early drag racing in and out box like dragsters and altereds used. also a transmission you could use would be a '39 ford truck box.
RyanSilva Posted April 25, 2007 Author Posted April 25, 2007 Thanks Gary. I thought the same just wasnt sure. Now to clean her up and cut it, and cast it.
flatheadgary Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 another thing about those boxes. they had a short shift handle that came out of the top and the clutch lever is that round horizontal shaft under where the shift handle would be.
Modelmartin Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Definitely an in-out box. They were used a lot in sprint cars, too.
Jairus Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Looks like 60's Revell stuff to me, like that found in the Revellution funny.
RyanSilva Posted April 26, 2007 Author Posted April 26, 2007 Thanks guys for the info. Decided to make my own, need to work it a bit more The flathead is just a resin cast i did that went wrong, so its used for mockups..
Modelmartin Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Actually that engine and trans look like the hemi unit in the AMT 53 Studebaker.
