TurboKitty Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 I have a sheet of 1yr old black BMF, it does not seem to want to stick like my regular chrome BMF does. I bought them both at the same time from the same place, but I have no way of knowing how old the sheets are, I was thinking maybe the black one sat longer so some of the adhesive lost it's tackiness? Is there a trick to getting it to stick like it should, or should I just buy a new sheet directly from BMF (hoping that it's a fresh sheet)?
High octane Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 If the chrome BMF sticks and the black BMF does not, I'm thinkin' you need to get a new sheet of black BMF. At least that's what I would do.
TurboKitty Posted September 15, 2011 Author Posted September 15, 2011 that's what I was thinking but it kinda sucks because there is 97% of the sheet left that I have, I was hoping I could save it somehow. Thanks
TurboKitty Posted September 15, 2011 Author Posted September 15, 2011 ok that's what I figured, I will look into the foil adhesive too. I am using it on a glossy surface that has been polished smooth and washed/rinsed well (no clearcoat applied yet, either). Thanks again
TurboKitty Posted September 16, 2011 Author Posted September 16, 2011 a long time ago when I was still living at home, my mom got me this small bottle of stuff that you brushed onto the back of regular aluminum foil (the kitchen stuff). I tried it but it was heavy duty foil, so I got some thin stuff at a dollar store and it worked pretty well. I don't know if it was Micro Scale adhesive though. I've seen thin brass, copper, silver, and gold craft sheets at hobby lobby, has anyone ever tried those out? I think they are for embossing or something, not quite sure. For now I'm going to tape off the parts that I need black, but I will get some Micro Scale adhesive as well as some more black foil if I can be sure it's fresh stuff. Thanks x3
