Painting a 70.5 camaro, just sprayed it with The Ultra Gloss from the model master custom laquer system

How long should I wait before applying the big stripe decals ?

Would decal set/sol be recommended?

...and finally how long after the decals can I hit it with another coat of the same clearcoat? Or should I ?

I believe on the 1:1.... the stripes are a decal so maybe I should leave it raw for more realism ?

I have about a 10 day window to get it finished.

* I know ..lol.. I need to feed the Pic beast.. *I will post some pics after I get it decal-ed* Promise

thanks in advance

Even though it's laquer , I'd still give it a day or so to flash out , just to be on the safe side . As for decal solvent , unless it's an elaborate decal scheme , why use it ? Smooth them out with a dampened piece of t shirt , then a dry piece and call it a day .

I feel like an idiot right now , realizing who I'm explaining this to . Lol ! As for clearing over the stripes , I wouldn't . If you are going for the correct look , ( when don't you ? ) stripes were decals on the 1:1s .

For that matter , almost all of the art on the drag cars was either painted on or were decals. On the modeling level , in my opinion , clearing over decals can lead to very bad things !

Donn I have heard that many builders like to shoot clear over the decals on their builds to protect them. Protect them from what I don't know, maybe rain, snow, hail, sleet, or even wind damage? As for handling the models, how often does one handle their model cars once they're built? To each their own.

Aww , C'mon , You really don't know ? Scale bird poop and housewives running along the shelves with scale grocery carts play hell with decals and finishes !

I handle my models alot more than most due to our display at the shows and don't have any problems . However , as you stated , to each their own !
