ARTEMIS1759 Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 (edited) Finally got around to rebuilding my Dad's Models. Here is my current WIP. It is the Autocar Dump. It was originally painted the Box Colors of red and white but I am redoing it in Black and Forest Green. Enjoy. Here is a few others I have done with no WIP pics: This one is a Sonny Pruitt "Movin' On" Duplicate from the collection: I will post more of this truck and more tomorrow. ARTEMIS1759 Posted November 5, 2011 Author Posted November 5, 2011 (edited) Here is the next new build i plan to do. I need to get two of of the mid 40s Chevy Pickup Models. It was used to transport military parts and equipment. The hood was raised and another axle added to stack two 235 I6s on top of one another and then chain driven to the transmission. ARTEMIS1759 Posted November 5, 2011 Author Posted November 5, 2011 Here is a few more of the Autocar. These are my Kustom built Mudflaps for the Autocar since it was missing one short one in front and one in the rear.
ARTEMIS1759 Posted November 5, 2011 Author Posted November 5, 2011 (edited) Anyone got any suggestions on how to fix this axle. I have done a few fixes but this one is broke a little farther up. Also does anyone have pics of this wrecker body so I know what it is supposed to look like and what kit it came out of. It is an early Holmes from the look of it. 40s-50s. I would like to take this Texaco 1950 Chevy Shop Truck and use the wrecker body. ] Edited November 5, 2011 by ARTEMIS1759
ewaskew Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Anyone got any suggestions on how to fix this axle. I have done a few fixes but this one is broke a little farther up. To fix the axle some super glue may work, that's a bad place for a broke axle. I think it's a cool deal with you rebuilding some of your Dad's kit's. There coming along good.
Guest Johnny Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Don't know how much material you have (thickness wise) to work with. But I have used a tiny drill bit and a piece of stiff wire and epoxy to repair a couple broken truck axles!
ARTEMIS1759 Posted November 5, 2011 Author Posted November 5, 2011 I guess the towtruck body looks similar to this but was this model ever built in plastic? My Dad says he don't know where it came from. http://www.diecastfast.net/images/90998_r.jpg
dee Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 (edited) the wrecker bed came with some of the late 60's chevy pickup kits from amt. Edited November 6, 2011 by dee
disabled modeler Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 The wrecker bed seems to be like the one from the 68 Chevy pickup kit by AMT years ago but the boom used with it was toyish looking. Nice work on the restorations!
Truck parts Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 The rebuild of your dads trucks is comming along very nice
ARTEMIS1759 Posted November 6, 2011 Author Posted November 6, 2011 (edited) Thanks Guys. yeah it was on the '72 Cheyene MPC Kit. Just found it. Wonder if anyone has instructions so I can see what parts it came with and then I'll build a twin boom Holmes W45 for it. Does anyone sell 1 ton Vintage dually Wheels? Oh and Cooter's Wrecker from the Dukes. Edited November 6, 2011 by ARTEMIS1759
ARTEMIS1759 Posted November 9, 2011 Author Posted November 9, 2011 Here is another thing I have been working on for the last three months. It is built on google sketchup and I plan to build a Diorama. More pics will be posted in the Dio section. and the reason you may want to take a gander:
Wagoneer81 Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 They're looking great! I saw the old thread that shows what they looked like when you aquired them. It warms my heart to see that you are giving them the TLC that they need. I really like the looks of the Transtar... That's a beautiful color combo.
