My first garage and first Diorama

This is a "clean" garage that I finished awhile back. It's pretty basic compared to some of the stuff I have seen on this forum. The pictures came out of car magazines and 3m spray glued onto the walls. The "girl" posters are from Stuff and Maxim Magazines. The floor is based on the TV show Horsepower TV and that's why it is soooo clean The corner wrap around bench and the table came from a snap-together Semi-trailer. All comments (good and constuctive) are welcome. Enjoy the pics....

makes a nice backdrop for your builds.

sometimes an extremely [read: overdone!] detailed diorama takes attention away from the focal point = car.

and you can always add clutter and weathering if you decide it should be that way. nice job.

The nice thing about it not being so cluttered is that I can change the cars and move things around to give it a different look. I can always add more "stuff" when I want. On some of the garages, I could spend at least an hour looking at all of the tiniest details and then notice the car that's there. Thanks for the comments....

Thanks for the comments, I'm thinking about making another diorama in the near future. I am planning on making a dealership or museum for my muscle cars, mostly MoPar and Chevy's of the 60's and early 70's. I just don't know which way to go with it yet.... I'd like to put about 7-8 cars in this diorama with some space to have figure's looking at them.

First question is: Is this a diorama or a display for your model?

Personally I feel the walls are way to cluttered and take away from the model if this is a display. Just a couple of posters that pertain to the style that you like to build (if you build/display muscle cars, then put up muscle car posters). If a diorama, I would suggest you cut back on the posters and add some other type of things you would find on the walls of a garage. Even if you show how the posters are posted by putting small pieces of tape on the corners and maybe a corner that is missing tape and curling up will add a little personality.

Here are a couple of pics of a garage that I built with many of these ideas. By all means, I don't expect anyone to go as "overboard" as i did to demonstrate clutter in a well used Hobby Garage. Maybe it will give you some ideas though.

To answer your first question, I would have to say "YES" to both of them

Like I had stated in the beginning, my inspiration had come from the Horsepower TV show which is clean and not cluttered (which makes it easier to find things)

By all means, you do very good work with A LOT of detail in your diorama. But, this was also my first attempt and going for the "clean not cluttered" look, which I believe I achieved. I can also put just about any type of car in the garage and it would fit (except a dusenberg)
