Skydime Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 (edited) There are a lot of alternatives out there. Don't think that you have to buy "model paint," they're basically ripping you off. I started using "craft paints" for detail painting. They come in either acrylic or acrylic enamels, gloss and flat, available in several brands, and I get it at Hobby Lobby. It comes in 2 ounce bottles, there are literally hundreds of colors in both regular and metallics, and the best part is, depending on the brand, it costs about a buck a bottle. For painting bodies I've used DupliColor for many years. And there are many other options as far as brands and types of paints, and pretty much all of them will cost you a lot less per ounce than "model paints." Agreed, but don't forget, if you happen to be near your local hobby lobby or Michaels, take a coupon in and get a can of Testors if it is really, truely what you want for the paint job. I don't really mind paying about $3 a can for the laquer. If I go in there to get a car, I pay for the car with a coupon, my wife pays for the paint with a coupon and I come out pretty good.
