Casey Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 Saw these on eBay a few weeks ago, but the pics weren't the greatest. so I couldn't make out the make and model names on the plaques. They appear to be '60s vintage, and I think one says "1957 Ford Thunderbird? I had no idea these existed and were included with kits, but I really dig them. I'm just curious which kits/kit series included these wall stands.
Greg Wann Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 One of those came in a original 62 Corvette roadster kit. It is the only Corvette that came with a opening hood and trunk. I do those Corvette parts in resin. I do the promo chassis for this build. I could look to see if all the parts are in the kit for this display unit and cast them too.
ChrisR Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 All my old AMT kits in the Styline boxes have them. I have a Valiant, Thunderbird and a Galaxie.
Chuck Most Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 If I recall, the '62 Ford Fairlane annual had one.

My '61 Corvette has an opening hood and trunk. It does not include the wall stand but does include a sign frame. One had to cut a name and spec plaque from the instruction sheet and place it in the frame.
Greg Wann Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 I have these parts. It looks like I have the sign frame you speak of. I was wrong on the year, mine is the 61 SMP kit Roadster also. I don't have the box or instructions. I bought it as a really nice built car and then later won the bid on some other parts.
Sixties Sam Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 I just picked up a 61 Ford Falcon Ranchero custom kit on ebay, and it has one, although I don't think the original kit did.
route66modeler Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 HI, Do you want some of these? When I get them they go in my junk box. Please pm me. Steve
Dr. Cranky Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 I've never seen one of those, that's very cool.

jbwelda Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 so...you would actually put one of your models on a stand like that, hanging from the wall? not here in earthquaky california you wouldnt! i remember making one of those and displaying a model on it when i was a kid...worked great until the cat made a jump at it to use as a sitting perch, which was about a half hour after i proudly put it up. durn cat.
RickRollerLT1 Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 (edited) I just picked up a 61 Ford Falcon Ranchero custom kit on ebay, and it has one, although I don't think the original kit did. IRRC, the orginal kit DID carry it and was only seen once... None of the very few reissues have it, even the first 1996 reissue DOES NOT include it, but the 2007 release (w/ the 1996 boxart, abit with updated copyright information) is the only reissue in 40 years to include this piece. Probably due to RC2's facility opening all the mold gates like with most of their reissues from that time. Edited November 22, 2011 by V-spec
