LDO Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 (edited) Another site is having a contest for Land Speed Racers. My entry is a lakester, a.k.a. belly tanker. Frame is scratchbuilt, and really just there to hold the 4 wheels. The only visible part is the cockpit. Front suspension and rear axle are from Revell's '47 Ford convertible. Belly tank body was made on a home made tiny vacuum former. The master was intended to be a P-38 tank, but the profile was wrong. I used the front half of that, a scratchbuilt straight cylinder extension, and the tail end of a 1/18 scale V-1 "Buzz Bomb" to make a generic tank master. "Blue collar" vacuum former and tank halves, showing the extreme redneck frame to hold the plastic sheet. Hey- it worked and it was made from stuff lying around the house. Vacuum former is made from parts bought at Radio Shack; a project box topped with perf board. I used plumbing parts to connect it to my shop vac hose. Edited December 19, 2011 by LDO
