wesleycharlessmith Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 Hey guys, new to the hobby and have a quick question. How much paint are you guys using on a standard 1/25 scale model? I am using an airbrush and testors acrylic paint. I am working on the Revell Enzo and so I have the body and some trim peices done in red and I have already gone through 1.5 little bottles of paint. I did prime the body and have about 2 coats on now. Thanks guys!
JamesW Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 I for one don't use acrylic. However, when I was using my airbrush and the little bottles of enamel, I would use about 1 1/2 jars, thinned of course.
rmvw guy Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 (edited) I can paint two models with a 1/4 oz bottle of Testors enamel thinned to 50/50. The only problem, it takes about three days or more to cure enough to handle the model. That's why I mostly use lacquers now. I can usually paint two models with one 3 oz. can of Model Masters. I do like the price of the small bottles of enamel a lot better and the air brush has a lot better control of the spray. Plus the fact that I can get by without primer in some cases with the enamels. Just need more patience I guess. This was one 1/4 oz. bottle of Testors enamel sprayed with my airbrush, no primer. Edited December 28, 2011 by vw guy

Mike Kucaba Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 ".thinking of switching to enamels for my next project..." You might want to search the forum about dehydrators then.
