Haubenschild Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 (edited) Hey guys I am just wondering what the correct ratio of paint to thinner is for model master enamel paint Edited December 31, 2011 by Haubenschild
scalenut Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 from the website: MODEL MASTER TESTOR ENAMEL PAINT: Gloss; 3 parts paint to 2 parts thinner. Flat; 3 parts paint to 1 part thinner, Air pressure setting should be around 20-25 PSI. Enamels require 48 hours for a full cure. Thinner: - all Enamel solvents
LoneWolf15 Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 I use a 2 to 1 ratio , 2 parts paint to 1 part cheap laquer thinner . Never a problem .
Haubenschild Posted December 31, 2011 Author Posted December 31, 2011 would the ratios be the same for metallizer?
scalenut Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 the metalizers are real thin , no reduction necessary also spray at low pressure around 15 psi
Haubenschild Posted December 31, 2011 Author Posted December 31, 2011 Thanks andy , you are the model car encyclopedia!
scalenut Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 (edited) Hahaha not hardly , I use model master paints and metalizers a lot.. They are the main paint I use most of the time so I'm well used to them Edited December 31, 2011 by scalenut
Haubenschild Posted December 31, 2011 Author Posted December 31, 2011 do i have to use sealer on the metallizers? , if so could i use any sealer i want?
scalenut Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 I've never used it my self , the finishes seem to hold up fine without it. I only do smaller parts , compared to using it on large surfaces like a body , in that case the sealer might be needed. as long as the sealer is compatible with the lacquer's it should work fine. Future is a good option
