Rob McKee Posted January 12, 2012 Author Posted January 12, 2012 Glad to see you are feeling better Rob The '40 looks great, nice sanding job Thanks Paul Have you started in on any of the kits you picked up while you were here?
maltsr Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Thanks Paul Have you started in on any of the kits you picked up while you were here? Not yet. I have just finished the DTM Mercedes Benz I was building in the Foreign Vehicle CBP http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=50426&st=120 I am also well on with a 1932 B400 in the Hot Rod CBP, but I think the 1956 Nomad is calling me . I already have the three paints needed for the colour scheme, and it will basically be an OOB build, big shiny wheels and all, but I am tempted by an MCG photoetch detail set for it - but that depends on how well the paint turns out .

Funny, I have been lurking over this kit at the LHS. I went back to Burnaby Hobby (the one that was closed) last week. They had a lot of the new kits out including the Manx Dune Buggy, the AMT Gremlin, and the Double Deck Bus. I was so close to buying the 56 Nomad as well. Maybe next week. Chuck at Cameo bought a 4000 kit collection. He is getting it on Sunday so it will take some time to go through. There is a mixture of Military, Planes, and cars in the collection. Should be interesting to see.

Rob McKee Posted January 13, 2012 Author Posted January 13, 2012 I managed to get a little more done on the truck today. More and more sanding to remove molding on the hood, cab and doors. I don't have to much more to go, just the back of the cab. I got the wheels mounted to the chassis today as well. It is sitting just the way I want it to but I need to shorten the front drivers side axle a little to pull the wheel into the fender a liitle more. Thanks to Rommel's tutorial on door hinges I finally managed to make and install the drivers side hinge and door. It took a bit of tweaking but the outcome is great. Maybe a couple more days of body work left to do and then I can start preparing for paint. I am still undecided on the color but have it down to 2 different schemes. Rob
wraith Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 SHe is starting to take shape! Can't wait to see what color you decide! I have always liked these trucks painted black, red, or gold!

Thanks Darrick, I am thinking a 2 tone paint. Just not sue which way to go yet. Could be silver and black, white and blue, red and white. Rob
Elliot949 Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 How about Silver and Blue... I think it should be just one color... LOL
