vintagestang Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 How do I make a paint booth out of an old toaster? How many and what kind of fans would I need? Would I need a rotating base? I have never used a paint booth before.
The Creative Explorer Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Go simple, I use a couple of sheets plywood and a old range hood on the bottom ( I strongly prefer a bottom sucker, in favor of the back suckers ) and presto: you got yourself a paintbooth. I would not fiddle with those little computerfans, even though they do suck a little bit, it can not suck a lot of fumes and spray at once. A range hood is just a better fit. All in all, it shouldnt cost more then 20 bucks including the range hood. A rotating base is prefered, but not necessary. It is just a little bit more comfortable to work with.
vintagestang Posted January 7, 2012 Author Posted January 7, 2012 Where would I get a rotating base or how could I make one?
The Creative Explorer Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 As example: this is my spraybooth: underneath is a hose, that I can toss out the window, so I have no fumes and/or overspray in the house. A nice rotating base is from Tamiya, costs are reasonable and very handy, I need to find a picture, hold on.

vintagestang Posted January 7, 2012 Author Posted January 7, 2012 Thats nice. I will probably get one from the Walmart.
vintagestang Posted January 7, 2012 Author Posted January 7, 2012 I also need the paint booth to be portable.
The Creative Explorer Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 make it a bit smaller with a few hinges, can't be that difficult.
Dr. Cranky Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 You can also use a lazy susan, they are cheap and you can build a wood block stand with some coat hanger wire . . .
vintagestang Posted January 7, 2012 Author Posted January 7, 2012 Thank yall. I'm gonna build one from ply wood and build a lazy susan.
