What motor is this ?

Bought a project truck that had this motor with it, never seen one before, it appears to be 1/25 or 1/24 scale,and is red plastic under the paint, seller called it a cat motor. Does anyone know what it is and where it might have come from ?

That's not a Cat motor. It vaguely resembles a 3408 Cat engine but I think it's from a Volvo. It's European for sure.

Yep , scania v8 .

This is a SCANIA V8 engine that you can find in any ITALERI 1/24 SCANIA kit. This engine was used in series 142/143 mostly. Newer SCANIA kits have the same engine with many components added, as the emissions technologies pushing forward.

Thanks for the info guys, it sure didn't look like any cat motor I had ever seen, and I have never built any of the Scania kits...........yet.

I got one of these, was thinking about using in a new kit as well but pluming needs some work. Guess you could call it a new Paccar engen

New Paccar engine? From a Scania.. noooo, you'd need one from a DAF.

I have seen a Caterpillar V8 with individual valve covers, but it wasn't a truck engine.
