matching decal and paint color

I'm working on a build in which I have a body stripe decal but there is a spoiler that needs to be painted the same color as the decal (red). I want to make sure that they will be the same color. Will I be better off to just mask the body and paint the stripe and spoiler instead? Any help is appreciated.

I have taken decals to a paint supply store,carquest,they have a way of matching paint to your decal I've done it a couple of times.
