JRJ Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Hello all Im new to the forum and after 2 weeks of reading Im finally posting. Im currently building a 1/25 359 pete and want a 48' flatbed spread axle to pull behind it. I saw that there was an article back in 94 on how to convert it to this but when I found the link the first half is missing anybody have it or recall what was done?
JRJ Posted January 27, 2012 Author Posted January 27, 2012 http://public.fotki....n_02.html#media This is the only piece I can find of it. Somethings wrong with the first section of it Yea thats the one I found but cant get the first section to show either. Its exactly what I want pretty much.
Chad Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Its very easy though. To do this you will need two trailers. Cut off the very back trim edge ( 1/4" ) and measure out what of the second trailer ( using the rear of the second trailer ) put both trailers together and the trailer will be and overall length of 23.04" in length to equal 48'. I just did this last week with a 6 axle covered wagon, and now im using the remainder to convert a second into another 48' eric. Its really easy. Chad
JRJ Posted January 27, 2012 Author Posted January 27, 2012 ^^^^^ Is easier to just scratch build the added section instead of cutting up another one and do you got pics?
Chad Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 it's not easier to just scratch build it, because if you want the detail it would be so much more difficult. you also need the frame rails from the second kit as well and if you do what I did, you can use the wheels and tires from the second one as well do it this way you'll be much happier and it's much easier IMO....just remember to make some added shelf space........THIS THING IS HUGE WHEN IT IS DONE!!!! here's some pics of mine. I'd say the combo is just a hair over 3' long. Chad
baloney Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 (edited) to match the truck you could of paint the spokes red --same color as the tractor-- it would give it more pop to it more like the owner operator look-- anyway it's a very nice clean build congrats!!! i like it.--add some mud flaps to the last axle.. Thanks for showing it to us. greg Edited January 29, 2012 by baloney
Chad Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 (edited) I see what you're saying Greg, I just really want the alcoas for my trailer, I love the look of black and red and chrome....the color of my 1/1 f350 used to be bright red with chrome everywhere....now it's black with chrome everywhere my wife had it painted while I was in afghanistan....so black/chrome and red/chrome are my two favorite color combos lol and there are mudflaps now( there were actually mudflaps in all but one of those pictures....the worst part about the build is the trailer tarp straps.............they are really suckin lol Chad Edited January 29, 2012 by Chad
