How do I make my engine and engine bay look greasy,dirty, oily,ect. Working on a 64' Impala beater and I need to make the engine bay dirty/heavily used look.Any tip would be much appreciated.

You can paint the engine with the colors you normally would use, and then you can apply washes. Use pigments (pastel powders) to make it look grungy, and then make an enamel based wash with some gloss clear, thin it and apply it in the areas you want to look greasy.

Floquil paints, (usually used by train people) which can be found in well-stocked hobby shops, have paint colors called Grimy Black, and Oily Black, and those look really good to represent oil leaks and oil drips or small puddles on a garage floor, etc... I would imagine that they would also look great on car engines and chassis parts. I've never personally used them for this, only in a small diorama that I got rid of a long time ago. Try them out.

Citadel paints that are made for Warhammer wargaming models have a range of pre-mixed washes that come in a few colors. I use them, and get great results. They are also acrylic, so any mess ups can be fixed with a Q Tip.
