I'm building my first Rat Rod, from scratch.

My parts box, styrene rods, and imagination are the only kit provided.

I'll post pics when it starts taking somewhat of a recognizable shape-

It's going to be a single seater... other than that I can't really tell ya much.

I'll keep you guys updated on how it goes!

Rob, this one looks very interesting. I'm liking the open cockpit idea. Is it my imagination or the angle of the photograph, but that wheel looks huge?

Keep it going. Looking forward to more.

Wow, you are fast, I posted the previous comment before you posted these last two shots in primer.

Okay, much better pictures and we get to see all the details better.

Thanks, and no- that wheel is huge. the back wheels are meant to be larger. I just hadn't put the rear brake assemblies one :P

Thanks for all the kind words!

Cool, I guess you are going grill-less on this one?

I havent quite decided just yet. I think i have a grille somewhere in my parts boxes- whether or not it will be fitting is another story.

I'm thinking of a color scheme for it after I finish the radiator housing (and possibly a grille)-

I'm thinking the name shall come to me after I get some colors onto it. Or, I might leave it up to you guys for 'open suggestions' :D

I also need to find some semblance of a rear bumper. We'll see how it goes together!

I've added some more detail bits, the radiator housing is drying in primer as I post this-

I made a slight mistake on the satin clearcoat- and it ended up clouding a little... but then I looked at it closer and found that it fit one of the many ideas I had mulling around.

As you will see, the clouded silver and white give almost a bone-like feel to this rod. So, in going with the look for the name, I've decided on BARE BONEZ.

It works in a few ways, for one it's nearly bare bones body and chassis, as well as the skull on the back, and the coloring.

Im searching my decal collection for some good decals (i already put a speedometer decal on the 'instrument panel'- :P ) but for now I leave you with basecoat and some details.

Not sure if you could make it out, but I scratchbuilt an ignition switch into the steering column and added a 'keychain' :P.... I will have to get my friend to take better pics with his camera (professional type stuff, I'm a tad jealous) because his camera can pick up all that small detail. :)

I'm really not seeing that as a potential problem after seeing some of the other combinations - very creative build you have going on here. As to finding a rear bumper, maybe just a straight push bar?

Wiring is done, radiator housing is up, and decals are applied-

Had to steel the tires off of Die-ora, I was assuming I had tires in my stash but I was wrong.

I will be taking better pics later, but for now here's some pics to keep ya interested.

You are adding lots of visual interest with all those details. I like the skull, and the red accents really stand out.

Keep it going. Suddenly, I'm also thinking of a motorized rickshaw (spell?).

LOL doc, you spelled it right.

Also, it's done for -now-.... until I can think of more to add. I will be aging it once I'm happy with it. I still need to add head/tail lights, a few more details paint/decal-wise, and I'm thinking of putting in some custom bone-shapes on some of my struts. I'm probably going to be putting a custom body on it much later once I get some more Plastruct Plastic Weld, and some mini-drill tools.

I'm planning on riveting the roof to the frame. I need to grab some hex rod from the LHS first.

Slowly but surely, Bare Bonez will ride into the wastes!
