catd11rpusher Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Im working on a 1/24th scale chevy titan and I want to use small wire from a 16 guage wire but its to hard to work with. The strans are to small for my mongo hands to work with. Something that will bend well and easy to work with. Or if you guys use that what is the best way to do that.
Semi Trailer Mechanic Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 I've used round stock styrene for fuel lines and smaller air lines. Use a little heat to bend it and it'll hold shape. In the past I experimented w/ fishing line but paint flakes off. Out at work the red tags I used to put trailers out of service have fine a fine metal wire through the tag you use to tie the tag to the trailer. I've used this wire before. You just have to get creative.
Old Albion Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 For oil, diesel and air lines I use a piece of fine electric wire. Strip off the sheath (black rubber bit) and use this for the lines. Dave
Ben Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 You can get some solid core phone wire. It will have four colors in it. Red, yellow, black and green. These can be used for all sorts of fuel hoses, air lines, electrical lines, etc. The solid core will allow you to bend it to shape and have it remain that way.
CharlieBravo Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Guitar strings are also great for hoses, lines etc. And being an avid guitarist, I have plenty laying around! They come in different sizes too.
